Sewer Pipe Video Inspections – When This Service is Crucial
Sewer inspections are important before purchasing a home, especially if the home was built before 1972, meaning it has cast-iron sewer piping. From 1972 to 1975, cast-iron sewer piping was gradually phased out in favor of PVC.
If your home or a home you are considering purchasing has cast-iron sewage pipes, they are prone to rust, cracks, and even collapse.
How Sewer Video Scopes Work
Because South Florida homes built after 1949 were built on concrete slabs, there is no way to inspect sewer piping during a basic home inspection. Therefore, a sewer video scope is needed to inspect underfloor drain pipes.
A Florida-licensed plumbing contractor or a SewerScan-certified inspector will use a high-definition scope camera to inspect up to 200 feet of piping. The contractor narrates and records everything in the pipes so the client, seller, and other contractors can review the assessment.

Why ACI Inspections Recommends Sewer Video Scopes
A sewer inspection is essential when purchasing a new home, living in a home built before 1975, or investing in a commercial building. Here is why we recommend doing it with a video scope:
How Much Does Sewer Video Inspection Cost?
A sewer video scope costs between $295 and $495 in most cases. You receive the full recording along with narration from the inspector so you can clearly understand what’s being shown in the video. We will also give you recommended next steps and a price estimate so you can make informed decisions about buying the home or your own home’s plumbing systems.
